1Petrol engine Air and petrol is mixed together and pushed into a emty cylinder a spark from a plug makes it expload which pushes a piston down inside the cylinder. the driver of the car has to changed the gears to tirn the wheels some cars have 4 or 6 cilinders.

a diesel enghin works the same but dose not spark when the air and diesel is in the cilinder it becamse hot and exploads diesel enghins are in trucks digers and trains.

a plain enghin mixis air and acid and sets fire toit to make it expload hot gas will come out the back of the enghin and will push the plan ford.
